Dick McKaig Campus Professional Award
Dick McKaig's devotion and commitment to the college fraternity is acknowledged by all. A graduate of Ball State University and a loyal member of Delta Chi Fraternity, Dick is known by his contemporaries as the "fraternal dean." He has been involved with the Greek community at Indiana University, and nationally, since his arrival on campus in 1971.
Dick's professional affiliations include NASPA where he has served in various capacities including as the Fraternity & Sorority Knowledge Community co-chair from 2006 to 2008. Additionally Dick has served the Center for the Study of the College Fraternity of which he was executive director for more than 20 years; the Indiana Student Affairs Association / Indiana College Personnel Association of which he was president on two different occasion; the North American Interfraternity Foundation board; and most notably to FEA, where he has been the director of our own Interfraternity Institute since 1984.
Dick's list of honors is as lengthy as his tenure at Indiana University. Most notably he has been awarded the Association of Fraternity Advisor's Robert H. Shaffer Award, the NIC Silver Medal, and NASPA's Scott Goodnight Award for Outstanding Performance as a Dean.
One of his colleagues sums it all up best by saying, "Dick's dedication to the fraternity/sorority industry has never wavered. He has touched the lives of countless students, graduate students, parents, campus professionals and Interfraternity colleagues. Dick McKaig is a recognizable name that brings to mind dedication, commitment, honesty and integrity."
This award was renamed the Richard N. McKaig Outstanding Greek Professional Award in 2009 to coincide with his retirement adn to honor his exceptional service.
